Savory Soy Curl Steak Pieces

Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz soy curls and hot water to cover
  • 1 ½ cups vegan beef broth
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 Tbsp refined coconut oil
  • 1 Tbsp browning sauce
  • 1 Tbsp molasses
  • 1 Tbsp mushroom seasoning
  • ½ Tbsp garlic powder
  • ½ Tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp hickory liquid smoke
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions
 

  • Cover the soy curls in hot water for about 10 minutes to rehydrate.
  • Mix the remaining ingredients in a separate bowl.
  • Drain the rehydrated soy curls and squeeze out as much water as you can.
  • Add the soy curls to a dry pan over medium heat and cook for a few minutes, stirring occasionally. The goal is to dry out the curls as much as possible. This helps the soy curls absorb more flavor and develop a better texture. Once they’ve started to firm up, add the liquid and continue cooking until the liquid disappears.
